Wild SHEPHERD'S PURSE (Stops Bleeding)

Stop-Bleeding-Fast-With-This-Wild-Basic-Weed; "Shepherds-Purse." Don't confuse the name of Purslane, not the same. I use to make sure when taking friends on herbal walks they knew the differences along with their medical properties. See: Making anti bacterial bandages.
Stop Bleeding Fast With This Weed- Shepherd's Purse
Check your yard for this beautiful tall, scraggly plant towering a good foot and a half above the other weeds scattering our overgrown yard. I crouched down to get a closer look and immediately noticed the heart shaped pods growing along the lanky stem– I’d recognize them anywhere.
It was Shepherd’s Purse! I have attempted to grow it from seed in the past without luck, so I was thrilled to find it thriving wild all over our lawn. The more I looked, the more Shepherd’s Purse plants I discovered around our home.
What was so exciting about discovering this “weed” in my yard is that not only is it edible and delicious, it also has medicinal properties as well. We’ll delve into that more in a moment.

Identifying Shepherd’s Purse

Stop Bleeding Fast With This Weed
Would you be able to pick out the Shepherd’s Purse from among these common weeds?
There are several hints to look for when identifying Shepherd’s Purse:
1. The plants will typically grow anywhere from 3 inches tall to 1 1/2 feet.
2. The deeply lobed rosette of leaves resemble dandelion, with symmetrical leaves spreading flat on the ground.
3. A long, slender stem grows from the middle of the rosette with heart shaped seed pods growing along the length of it. (The heart shaped pods are a dead giveaway that it’s Shepherd’s Purse.)
4. When in bloom, you will notice small, white, tightly shaped flowers at the top of the stem.
5. It’s an annual herb. Although it may self-sow, don’t expect to find it growing in the same place the following year. However, the seeds remain viable for up to 20 years, so there’s a good chance you’ll find Shepherd’s Purse growing again at some point if you allowed the plant to go to seed.
6. Shepherd’s Purse grows all across the United States and in many other countries. It can be found from Spring through Winter.
I apologize for not having more photos to help you identify this plant. Hopefully I’ll find some more Shepherd’s Purse growing this year and I can update this article with up-close shots to help you with proper identification. If you’re interested in learning more there are tons of photos you can find online. Here’s a good article to read with lots of information and a few more photos to check out.

A Useful Weed

Shepherd’s Purse has many interesting uses. It is enjoyed in culinary dishes in many cultures around the world. It’s also prized for its medicinal qualities. A few of my favorite uses include:
  • Eat it- fresh or cooked. The leaves can be eaten straight off the plant or added to sandwiches, salads, and soups; fresh or cooked. The stalk can be stir-fried, or eaten raw. The flowers can be eaten raw. The seeds can be stir-fried and used as a peppery seasoning. The roots can be used fresh or dried as a substitute for ginger or candied in syrup. (Source: Linda Runyon’s Essential Wild Food Survival Guide)
Personally, I enjoy picking the flowers and seed pods off the plant and eating them fresh.
  • Quickly stop bleeding. Shepherd’s Purse is high in Vit. K, vegetable protein, potassium, calcium, beta-carotene and minerals. It has been used for centuries to stop bleeding internally and externally. For a quick field application, make a poultice by crushing up fresh or dried leaves to apply to a bleeding wound. An herbal tea can also be made to ease internal bleeding. Shepherd’s Purse tincture is often used by midwives to stop excessive bleeding after giving birth. (I actually took two droppersful of an alcohol tincture of Shepherd’s Purse after giving birth to help control the bleeding, per my midwife’s instructions, and can attest to its effectiveness.) Take it orally to treat internal bleeding.
Warnings: Avoid the herb during pregnancy, except during labor because it stimulates uterine contractions.
I’ll give you a little personal story. My youngest daughter… she’s five… she has always had a problem with nose bleeds. If she gets bumped on the nose playing, or falls and hits her nose, it immediately begins to gush blood. I mean more than a steady drip. The flow of blood is constant… and it’s scary! I keep cotton nose plugs on hand (you know, the kind for sports injuries) specifically for her nose bleeds, but she usually soaks through a handful of them before the bleeding stops.
When I found Shepherd’s Purse growing wild in our yard, I took advantage of the opportunity to do an experiment to see just how well it actually works. Using all of the aerial parts, I made a tincture to try on my daughter. I used glycerin as the base instead of alcohol so that it would be safe to put in her nose.
Several weeks later, my daughter was supposed to be in bed sleeping, but instead was fooling around and fell off the bed, hitting her nose on the wall. I heard her screams from across the house, and ran to see what was wrong. She stood in her bedroom doorway, blood dripping all down her shirt and puddles on the carpet at her feet. I whisked her off to the bathroom and gathered my supplies– nose plugs, a pack of ice, and that Shepherd’s Purse tincture.
I dipped the first nose plug into the infused glycerin tincture, and stuck it into the bleeding nostril. I placed the bag of ice on the bridge of her nose, and had her lean over the bathroom sink. I waited for the blood to fill the plug as it usually does almost immediately, but the blood had stopped soaking through. I wondered if the glycerin was preventing the cotton from absorbing blood, so I pulled the plug out with a new one ready in hand to quickly replace the first. But when I pulled that first plug out we were both astonished to discover that the bleeding had completely stopped. It was amazing! Never in her life has her nose stopped bleeding so quickly. I was flooded with relief, and she was thrilled that it was over.
I’ve had more times than I can count over the past year to use this Shepherd’s Purse tincture, and the results have always been consistent and immediate. It will forever have a place in my medicine cabinet.

How To Make A Shepherd’s Purse Tincture

A tincture is a very concentrated liquid extract of herbs, and is an effective way to take herbal medicine internally. You can take a dropperful or two straight from the bottle, but if the strong flavor is offensive you may also add the drops to a warm drink and take it that way as well.
Tinctures are usually made by infusing an herb in a strong alcohol base. However, for more sensitive people, especially children, you can choose to use glycerin or apple cider vinegar instead of alcohol. The latter options won’t be as strong medicinally as the former, but they are a good alternative and still work well.
Preserving Shepherd’s Purse in a tincture is a great way to capture the medicinal properties of the plant at the peak of harvest and enables you to reap its medicinal benefits year-round. Prepared tinctures are a quick and effective way to get an application immediately– as opposed to a tea which requires time to steep and cool.
For this particular herb, fresh plants are better than dried. Dried Shepherd’s Purse loses its potency rapidly. Some herbs must be dried before using in a tincture, but not in this case.
Stop Bleeding Fast With This Weed
You’ll Need:
  • Fresh Shepherd’s Purse stalks, seed pods, and flowers. (The dried herb can be used if fresh isn’t an option.)
  • 80-100 proof alcohol (vodka, gin, brandy, rum); vegetable glycerine, or apple cider vinegar
First, gather a bunch of fresh stalks. Instead of uprooting an entire plant, cut the stalks off a couple of inches from ground level.
Chop up all of the aerial parts (stalks, pods, flowers).
Fill a glass container, such as a pint sized mason jar, with the fresh, chopped herbs.
Pour enough alcohol, glycerin, or apple cider vinegar into the jar to completely cover the herbs. Screw on an airtight lid.
Place the jar out of direct sunlight. Allow the herbs to infuse for 4-6 weeks before straining off. Store in a dark place, or in a tinted glass bottle.
The tincture will be good for one year, after which you’ll need to replace it with a fresh batch.
For more information regarding usage and dosage amounts, here is a great article to check out. It’s definitely an interesting herb, and a useful one to be able to identify in the wild.
If you found this article on Shepherd’s Purse interesting, you might also enjoy reading about another edible and medicinal plant: Lamb’s Ear. Don’t forget to check out the Herbal Medic Class Sam Coffman recently taught as well.

Others: Maybe in your garden or backyard? Sepherd's purse, Cleavers, Chickweed, Dandelion, Groundsel, Mallows, St johns wort, Self heal (prunella vulgaris), Usnea (usnea barbata) and number ten is Yarrow. These herbs may not expecially grow in your area's back yard. Yarrow is found in mountain areas more than plains i.e. There are many more. Make sure these herbs are not sprayed and away from car traffic (lead-contamination).
I like their comments from this posts. It gives way to store these herbs in a tincture. One sample, my favorite

Notes on Lobelia
to use in formulas

http://shermsorganicnews.blogspot.com/2010/12/history-of-lobelia.html

Lobelia alone cannot cure, but it is very beneficial if given in connection with other measures, such as an enema of catnip infusion morning and evening. An enema should be given even if the patient is delirious. It's important to remember to balance out Lobelia with another or other herbs. It works best this way, but not with a drug.
It will relieve the brain. Pleurisy root is a specific remedy for pleurisy, but it is excellent if combined with lobelia for its relaxing properties. The use of lobelia in fevers is beyond any other remedy. It is excellent for very nervous patients. Poultices of hot fomentation of lobelia are good in external inflammations such as rheumatism, etc. It is excellent to add lobelia to poultices for abcesses, boils and carbuncles. Use on-third lobelia to two-third slippery elm bark or the same proportion to any other herb you are using.
While lobelia is an excellent emetic, it is a strange fact that given in small doses for irritable stomach, it will stop spasmodic vomiting. In cases of asthma, give a lobelia pack, followed the next morning by an emetic. The pack will loosen the waste material, and it will be cast out with the emetic. In bad cases, where the liver is affected and the skin yellow, combine equal parts of pleurisy root, catnip and bitter root. Steep a teaspoonful in a cup of boiling water.
Give two tablespoons every two hours, hot. For hydrophobia, steep a tablespoonful of lobelia in a pint of boiling water, drinking as much as possible to induce vomiting. This will clean the stomach out; then give a high enema. This treatment should be given immediately after the person is attacked. Lobelia is excellent for whooping cough...For an emergency, there is nothing that will as quickly clear the air passage of the lungs as lobelia. A tincture made as follows will stop difficult breathing and clear the air passages of the lungs, if taken a tablespoonful at a time: (Add in lung herbals if you wish) This tincture is also on You Tube (Mt. Rose Herbs)
Lobelia herb 2 ounces
Crushed lobelia seed 2 ounces
Apple vinegar 1 pint or vodka (your only using drops and it will keep longer.)
Soak for two weeks in a well-stoppered bottle, shaking every day.

CLEANSING THE LUNGS in 72 hrs.

Cleansing the lungs in 72 hours as we say is not very difficult if we have the will power and put our mind to it.
http://www.ewao.com/a/1-burzynski-cancer-cure-finally-released-by-the-feds/

1. Get rid of dairy products like milk, butter, cheese and other milk products.  Say no to them.  When we introduce milk products, the body stores toxins. So get rid of toxins that are produced when we consume milk products.
2. Herbal teas or organic tea helps in flushing out the toxins from the body.  Initially, you may experience constipation, but this is a sure shot way to get rid of unnecessary toxins which are causing harm to your lungs.
3. Drinking warm water squeezed with lemon helps. To be precise squeeze the juice of two lemons in 300 ml of water and drink it before breakfast.  Lemon is acidic and helps flush out the toxins from your lungs
4. The other good choice is juice of grapefruit.  You may choose pineapple juice if you are not very happy with the lemon juice.  As long as these are natural juices, it will not affect the natural working of your lungs.  The magic is to go natural.  Many of these natural juices contain anti oxidants and help in natural cleansing of the body.

5. Carrot juice about 300 ml taken as mid lunch helps in alkalizing your blood during the 72 hour period.
6. The trick is to not load your lungs and at the same time eliminate the toxins from the lungs.
7. The natural juices of grapefruit, lemon and pineapple help in improvising the breathing system of your body.
8. Carrot juice is a cleanser by itself and is ideal for the body even otherwise. When it comes to lung cleansing, it does the cleaning effect internally.
9. Juices with potassium lend a cleansing effect and have it in lunch time.  It fights bacterial effectively and this prevents lung infection.
.................................................................................................
optional suggestions .
Approximately 400 ml of the juice of cranberry will help fighting bacteria that is present in the lungs. This means you will be automatically fighting the infection in a healthy manner.

  • Hot baths help always. It is one way to release the toxins through sweating. The more you hot bath, the higher is the release of toxin
  • Inhale the steam of eucalyptus in hot water and cover your head with a heavy  towel. You will sweat and release toxins. When you inhale, it lends a soothing effect as well.
  • Get an air purifier
  • Clean with home made cleaning agents, vinegar, i.e.
  •  Vacuumed, but first, sprinkle carpets baking soda to help keep the air more clean
  •  Do not smoke or be around those that do. (avoid public smoking areas)
  • 15 Plants and Herbs That Can Boost Lung Health, Heal Respiratory Infections And Even Repair Pulmonary Damage

  • A wave of viral and bacterial infections is sweeping across the Northern Hemisphere and people are taking longer to heal from an array of symptoms within the respiratory system. If you are resorting to conventional medicine to address these infections with antibiotics, you are not only adding to the problems associated with antibiotic resistance, but you're also doing little to address the healing mechanisms within your body to address the cause. Herbal remedies not only boost lung health, but they can heal infections and even repair lung damage. Here are 15 of the best herbs to boost lung health.

    1. LICORICE ROOT

Licorice is one of the more widely consumed herbs in the world. In Traditional Chinese Medicine it occurs in more formulas than any other single herb because it is thought to harmonize the action of all other herbs. Licorice is very soothing and softens the mucous membranes of the throat and especially the lungs and stomach and at the same time cleanses any inflamed mucous membrane that needs immune system support. . It reduces the irritation in the throat and yet has an expectorant action. It is the saponins (detergent-like action) that loosen the phlegm in the respiratory tract, so that the body can expel the mucus. Compounds within this root help relieve bronchial spasms and block the free radical cells that produce the inflammation and tightening of the air ways. The compounds also have antibacterial and antiviral effects to them as well which helps fight off viral and bacterial strains in the body that can cause lung infections. Glycrrhizins and flavonoids can even help prevent lung cancer cells from forming which means they can even prevent lung cancer.
    ===============================================
    Post Note:
Lobelia is the best herb for the lungs for oxygen and removing poisons. Not  many know how to use it, better in formulas for the lungs

''LOBELIA (Plant and Seed) (QUOTED material follows) Botanical Name: Lobelia inflata. Common names: Bladder podded lobelia, wild tobacco, emetic herb, emetic weed, lobelia herb, puke weed, asthma weed, gag root, eye-bright, vomit wort. Medicinal properties:Emetic, expectorant, diuretic, nervice, diaphoretic, antispasmodic.

...Lobelia acts differently upon different people, but it will not hurt anyone. It makes the pulse fuller and softer in cases of inflammation and fever. Lobelia reduces palpitation of the heart. It is fine in the treatment of all fevers and in pneumonia, meningitis, pleurisy, hepatitis, peritonitis, phrenitis, nephritis, and perositis.

There should always accompany the lobelia with cayenne pepper which is the purest and best stimulant that is known in the compass of medicine.

PIf you've never worked with herbs...best to avoid Lobelia. I learned by using the tincture that starts out with 5 drops. It's one of my basic herbs on hand at all times.
These are my favorite research sites.

    Hormone Herbs

What are female hormonal herbs. Their so much fake, synthetic, man made carbon herbs (remakes into drugs.) Organic News needed a to post other alternatives. I don't do homework on all these types of herbs God gave plenty of these species and others in each area of the world. Here are the few that I'm familiar with. The new synthetic birth control pill (estrogen's) will have a day of recking...and on females who believe in using them. It effects us all, the waters are being polluted by people who use them. It's a wonder that any female today can even get pregnant with the birth control pill, estrogen's i.e that nothing can clean up the water environment. Reports on De-sexed fish and that has carried onto other freaky animals should make humans relies that could carry on to them also. http://earthsorganicnews.blogspot.com/2009/12/women-female-problem.html Other, reports are in my blog post of: Roosters Politics and a good book called, "Your Fertility Signals by Merryl Winstein", or another, (How to Achieve or Avoid Pregnancy Naturally)

Fibromyalgia muscle pain, this and Emmenagogue herbs effect the nervous system.
    • Rue

    • Rag Wort
    • Squaw Vine
    • Southern wood
    • *Wild Yam (Book available on birth control in HFS) This is an herb largely researched by Washington who made his wife pill for her female problems then turned around and manufactured it to pharmacy company's synthetically.
These are a few more of the healing are called Emmenagogue Herbs. Some are abortive, menstrual, menopause's, extra bleeding, birthing, i.e. problems and used at the wrong times can be fatal, so do your own research before using. Some are hormone replacement and you need to do more research. The key word to do more research more is Emmenagogue herbs...in the Herbalist area.
This particular formula will stop excess bleeding and is one of the best formulas. Great for menopause problems or to get pregnant after used to clear they female system of its debris or toxins.
http://www.mynaturalmarket.com/dr-christopher-female-reproductive-formula-100-capsules.html Dr. Christopher has formulated this well, and beats most female formulas on the market.
Other too many to post, but are many Emmenagogues, not necessary hormonal: Aloes, Acacia, Angelica European Arrach, Asafetida Balm, Bayberry, Beet Beth Root Birhwort Bistort Bitter Root Bittersweet American , Blood Root (cancer), Brroklime, Buchu, Burnet, Button Snakeroot, Calamint, etc. Every area of the world have their own medical plants...check there first.
We have too many US manufactures like "Young Living" i.e. who go to Europe, (Rain Forest) buying exotic herbs, to sell them here so we can't buy them from other source creating a exclusive market for themselves. Creating piranha's of this herbal market. Most of the time their's one in your area that will work the same. Such as in one this category Emmenagogues plant is an Emmenagogue plant not that it matters where it comes from or the particular botany name.
All herbs are parasitic in nature if in organic form will make a more potent and powerful medicine. IF not started OUT in a hybrid seed or plant.

    EBOLA: or ANY PLAGUE_Formula

It doesn't matter what they've name any disease. They name it goes by maybe who discovered it, cure it or named by the big Wall Street pharmacy for insurance company's stock purposes. The name tell us where the toxin's/disease is build up, locked into its toxic wastes invading and destroying the body cells/tissues and their function's.
It's parasites will come along to clean up the debris as they, then, multiply needing more food as their young continuing to forage and move onto another weak spot. Hatching out their children is a continual problem. , use garlic and vinegar and it will reverse and go away.

In the peak of any disease parasites can take over the control of its victim destroying and breaking down the body taking it back to clay.
Use this formula before being around, handling any sick or, before you get sick to stay well. Ebola has been for in Africa, S. America, FL, MX, TX and NY so far.

The parasites have to be first addressed before any healing can begin. In this formula depending on its stages of progression you may have to add in herbs to the main formula (Garlic as suggested or sub. one in you area that do the same and use organic ACV)
*Substitutes: If you are bleeding internally add Goldenseal root anti biotic or Cayenne both will stop bleeding. A good sub. for GS is Oregon Grape (Mahonia aquifolium) but, may cause diarrhea in some.
*LIVER: If you have any break out on the skin (which shows liver is over loaded and gobs of parasites) always use Yellow dock or Burdock. (itch spots, rashes i.e.) (You can add into this formula, or take separately. I add in goldenseal root and lobelia. (Use every day 3-4 times a day and make it up NOW!) When you'll need the formula, you maybe too sick to make it up or find the ingredients will not be in the store. Liver herb carry away the carcass from the blood, see Comfrey i.e.
(This history of this formula came from the poorer men in Europe who had burying their dead from the plagues.
They made up a garlic and vinegar decoction; took it everyday before work carry of the dead bodies. It got around that none of them died of this plague. Some say they gave away the recipe and many versions have appeared, however the basic was garlic and ACV.
Marketers' have tried to add oils and other herbs onto this basic formula and they maybe OK, however do they understand how it worked and why. These men didn't have much. They had to be the lowest station, and poorest  burying or burn of bodies. It's also how you can tell factious formula's as they only had money for garlic and vinegar.

This formulas is one of my older one stemming from the above history. I have modernized mine as cooks/herbalist do.
    ................
First I will give this formula as was given to me, come back later to get the other.
OVER THE COUNTER and just plain BAD MEDICINES is out there but sometimes its the simple herbal formulas will work the best. Remember to kill any plague we have to kill its host/invader which is its parasite. Clean them out through the blood which would be the in liver and then out through the kidney/urine and bowels as they can come through any orifice and skin which is an organ.
    ..............

ALTERNATIVE medicine is to make up our own. Make enough for the winter and or share with family members. It's best to do one part of the formula one day and bottle in dark bottles then do the another part the next and repeat. After you've make the formula then began to COMBINE and store in dark bottles. The ACV and Glycerin will preserve the formula. (Some us Vodka if stored for a long time, but remember the ACV is healing. Add in the honey at the end.)

    Dr. Christopher’s Anti-Plague Formula
(My herbal training comes from Canada, La Dean Griffin and Dr. David Christopher and much is experiences)

    Mix from dry herbs; making them into liquids before combining;
This link will give you a flu formula to sub for this one: which is easier http://shermsorganicnews.blogspot.com/2014/12/the-flu-formula-penicilln-substitute.html

    http://shermsorganicnews.blogspot.com/2009/12/h1n1-or-mad-cow-disease.html Why?

    ......................

Mix well the following liquid ingredients:
*8 parts apple cider vinegar (parasite, etc)
*5 parts glycerine ~Vegetable (?) or, preserve it for a longer time with Vodka/liquor
*5 parts raw honey (add last) Honey is healing and makes the medicine have a pleasant taste.

*2 parts garlic juice, fresh (see below) This is the antibiotic part. Use hot potent garlic or for children onion can be substituted. Remember the honey make it milder. I've been know to use more garlic?

*2 parts comfrey root concentrate -This is the part that cleanse the liver and you can sub with another liver herbal, listed in my blog post (Be sure to grow your own by buying root cuttings)

*1 part wormwood concentrate -parasites (add in 1/2 cloves or 1/2 part cinnamon which will kill parasite also, if you can't get this herb.)

*1 part lobelia leaf concentrate- calms, reduces fever, kill poison and kills off toxicity waste (I have bought the tincture on line and added a bottle in. This is important if really sic.) I will not buy a formula without it in. I sometimes have to add it in at the last minute. Directions are on the bottle. Mountain Rose Herbs, Oregon has the tincture and they have the recipe to make it too.

*1 part marshmallow root concentrate (mucus less forming, a natural pH can Slippery elm (colon~lax...) or, sub ginger root; will aid if stomach problems)
*1 part Oak bark concentrate (parasitic)
*1 part Black walnut bark concentrate (parasitic)
*1 part Mullein leaf concentrate (Lungs need to be protected, holistic med. comfrey's will do some of this too)
*1 part skullcap leaf concentrate (keep you calm and kill parasites)
*1 part each: Uva ursi, Hydrangea or Gravel root concentrate (it also has female and stones melting properties)

    To make concentrates:
Each concentrate should be made individually.

Start by soaking the herb in enough distilled water to cover it, for four hours, over night if it is a root.
Makes one gallon: (bottle in dark smaller bottles)
After soaking, add more distilled water so that the total added equals 16 oz. water per 4 oz. of herb. Use a multiple of these amounts for larger batches. Using this amount will make approx. one gallon of Anti-Plague.

Simmer the herb on very low heat in a covered pan or double boiler for thirty minutes. Then strain the liquid into a clean stainless steel pan.
Put the liquid into a double boiler or on very low heat uncovered and simmer it down to one-fourth of the original volume (4 oz.) Only after all the ingredients have been prepared should the liquids be mixed. (Use only stainless steel pots.)

To make Garlic Juice: for the above amount use 2 1/2 lbs. of garlic - peel, blend in blender with vinegar (do not liquefy).

Let set for 3 days, shaking several times per day. Squeeze out liquid and measure. If needed add more vinegar to equal the 8 parts.

... (all parts are quoted) I've made just parts of this formula recipe and it stilled worked. Sub. where your herbs parts are missing because its not available, or in your area their are different herbs for the same purpose.
VACCINES FOR EBOLA, BEWARE; WHO IS BEHIND IT ALL BESIDES WALL STREET?
    ...........
Another "liver" herb may be dandelion root i.e. That's why I explained their purposes. You do not have to come to the USA or go over-seas for their herbs. They may have the same herbs of different ones for the same purpose. God is good to all.

Last but important: If your in pain stop eating. If you do eat, don't indulge in heavy foods such as eating meat, high proteins. Best is a plant based diet especially if really sick. Remember the blood must be cleared/cleaned so toxins/parasite/cancers/ and other diseases can leave. Keep your door open. Ingesting meat will close these doors. Just watch you tongue, if its white your cleaning the lymph's/liver/blood. And you will heal of your disease if you follow directions.
    ...........
+If you have a stomach problem add in ginger root
Bowel: If you have diarrhea use fiber; psyllium, or 6 g. fiber bread, sunflower leaves will work, no sprays on herbs) yogurt to replace the bowel flora lost and or cheese, i.e.

If you can't do this every meal eat only one meat/protein meal and the other two vegan. And take your formula Tbs 3-4 times a day.

    * (Sunlight, Clorox will disinfect and ultra violet light?)
POORER MAN'S VERSION: Is the basic "thieves' formula:" Garlic, Raw dark with mother when possible, Apple Cider Vinegar. Then add what you need, and the lobelia separately, and Raw honey. Take 3 X a da every day.

GINGER IS MORE POWERFUL HERB THAN ONCE THOUGHT

Ginger Destroys Cancer More Effectively Than Death-Linked Cancer Drugs

I learned to like ginger using it in my wonton recipe. Theirs a candy they make of dried ginger/sugar, it's fantastic for stomach and keeping pH levels. (found at HFS) I use to make herbal formula's; never left out  ginger as it pads any stomach problems when used with any other herbs (catalyst) and help them to go where they need to go in the body. Great for children and nauseated mother's to be and headaches. If you have pain from arthritis, etc Ginger will bring the body back to a natural pH and kill the pain. I use the health food stores candied ginger and it works every time or, Baking Soda

Try the lemon, cuke and ginger beverage for weight. Dr. Oz i.e. It the root that makes it powerful. If using this herb for healing purposes be sure it hasn't been grown in bad soil where they've used chemicals. This will damage the healing properties.

    ginger-health-benefits-uses-ginger-powder

Ginger, a cousin spice of super anti-cancer substance turmeric, is known for its ability to shrink tumors. Astoundingly, it is even more effective than many cancer drugs, which have been shown to be completely ineffective and actually accelerate the death of cancer patients. Commonly consumed across the world in small doses among food and beverage products, the medicinal properties of ginger far surpass even advanced pharmaceutical inventions.
*The subject of one study based out of Georgia State University, whole ginger extract was revealed to shrink prostate tumor size by a whopping 56% in mice. The anticancer properties were observed in addition to ginger’s role in reducing inflammation as well as being a rich source of life-enhancing antioxidants. But what about cancer drugs? Could this simple spice really topple the advanced pharmaceuticals that are often touted as the ‘only option’ for cancer patients by medical doctors?

It turns out that cancer drugs are not only severely ineffective at permanently shrinking tumors, but they actually make tumors larger and kill the patient more quickly. More specifically, the tumors have been found to ‘metasize’, meaning they come back bigger and more stronger than their original size. What’s more, the ‘metasizing’ was found to be very aggressive. According to scientists Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, the premium priced drugs were little more than death sentences for many patients.
“Whatever manipulations we’re doing to tumors can inadvertently do something to increase the tumor numbers to become more metastatic, which is what kills patients at the end of the day,” said study author Dr. Raghu Kalluri.
These are the very drugs considered to be the scientifically proven solution by mainstream health officials.

Meanwhile, ginger presents virtually no side effects and has been used as a food product by many cultures for countless centuries. Instead of creating super tumors, whole ginger extract was shown to exert significant growth-inhibiting and death-inductory effects in a spectrum of prostate cancer cells. (Ginger should be in all prostate cancer formulas)
    ANOTHER USE FOR GINGER:
    http://www.herbs-info.com/blog/ginger-press-amazing-an-natural-pain-killer/?c=d PAIN

"Over 17 other studies have also reached similar conclusions on ginger’s anticancer benefits, with the spice being shown by peer-reviewed research to positively impact beyond 101 diseases.
Given that drug companies aren’t even close to finding an Alzheimer’s disease prevention treatment and there are no approved drugs to stop the disease progressing, McGeer said there’s evidence for people trying some safe and simple measures in their own kitchens.
Along with ginger, try blackberries, rhubarb, cinnamon, turmeric, cranberries, pomegranate and blueberries. Those foods contain enzymes that block plaque buildup, McGeer told delegates at the American Association for the Advancement of Science  in Vancouver.
Plaque is made up of beta amyloid (A-beta) protein. Studies have shown A-beta deposits, sometimes called senile plaques, are in the brain many years before memory loss and other dementia symptoms appear."
    More News From Our Kitchen:
Garlic will also help you to control your stress, and thus stop the production of stomach acid that your body produces every time you get nervous.
Garlic is popular for its health benefits in every part of the world. That is the main reason why people started calling it “a healing food” long ago.
    Garlic And Alternative Medicine
In alternative medicine garlic is considered to be one of the most efficient foods when it comes to detoxification. Medical practitioners in this branch say that garlic is so powerful that it cleanses the body from parasites and worms, prevents diseases like diabetes, typhus, depression, and even some cancer types.
If you are allergic to garlic, take two important things into consideration: never eat it raw, and if you still get any skin outbreak, high body temperature, or a headache, stop consuming it.
Some studies have shown that the consumption of garlic can sometimes have side-effects in patients that take medications for HIV/AIDS. Pay special attention to this health conditions and be extremely careful. Make sure garlic is safe for you before you start consuming it.
Its strong smell and taste should not stop you from using all its health benefits. Garlic supplements are a great substitute for raw garlic and even in that form you can still take advantage of its benefits.
    Other Health Benefits of Garlic
Garlic is good for the respiratory tract: it is amazingly efficient in preventing and curing tuberculosis, asthma, pneumonia, catarrh, bronchitis, chronic bronchial catarrh, lung congestion, and cough.
In cases of tuberculosis, try this garlic-based treatment. Eat the whole garlic bulb during the day. Split it in a few portions, and consume it in any way you find preferable. The best results are obtained if you eat it raw or lightly roasted in the oven.

Make a special infusion if you need to treat any type of bronchial disease.
Use 7 oz / 200 grams of garlic, 24 oz / 700 grams of brown sugar, and 33 oz / 1l of water. Boil the water together with the garlic, then add the sugar. Take three tablespoons a day.
Garlic extract is really efficient in treating chronic bronchitis.
You need 1.5 oz / 40 grams of garlic and 3.5 oz / 100 ml of 90 proof alcohol (45% alcohol). Chop the garlic and put it in a bottle, then pour in the alcohol. Seal well. Leave it for five or six days, and strain. Take a cup of this remedy every day. It also lasts for a long time.
You can use the same remedy to treat catarrh and asthma. For this health conditions, add 15-30 drops in some hot water. If you can not stand its taste and smell, add some mint extract. In this way you will also change its power.
Garlic can be also used for external applications. Use it as a poultice over the abdomen to relieve cold. Apply it directly on an insect or poisonous animal bite. Small amounts of garlic will help you to remove warts, and these skin growths will fall of without any pain. You can use it to relieve toothache. All you have to do is put a small piece on the aching tooth.
The list of its health properties seems to be never ending. Garlic also cures hemorrhoids, constipation, and earache. If you want to treat hemorrhoids and constipation, boil some water and add a good amount of garlic.
Keep the infusion in a container that will allow you to inhale the steam. Inhale until the water gets cold. To treat an earache, squeeze out some of the garlic juice and put one or two drops in the aching ear. (for children us garlic oil, pinch with pin and squeeze)
    What Should You Remember
Garlic provides a great number of health benefits and protects your health as long as you eat it regularly. Use its healing properties every day, and you will sure see some improvement in your overall health.

    ARNICA, BONESET, CALENDULA, CATNIP, CATNIP_MEDICINE

PREPPER LIST OF WILD HERBS OF NATIVE AMERICAN'S
(Arnica), Arnica Montana used throughout Europe and North
    Arnica Montana
America since the 1500’s as a cream or ointment, effective for soothing muscles, reducing inflammation and healing wounds. When brewed as a tea, this amazing herb has been used for stress, sleeping problems, emotional trauma making it an excellent “meltdown herb.”
I've been using herbs that are collectable from your back yards for medicine cupboards in rough times as North America Indians have always used.

    ................

Eupatorium Perfoliatum (Boneset), an herb traditionally used by
    Eupatorium Perfoliatum
Native Americans, who called it “Ague Weed,” now commonly called “#boneset.” It’s a great remedy for treating the symptoms of influenza, and helpful for treating aches and pains and fever. Occasional use of boneset leaves brewed as tea helps detoxify the body, removing excess uric acid. It also acts as to expulse other toxins. In a survival instance, this herb can mean the difference between life and death in high fever or poisoning.
    ............
Calendula Officinalis (Calendula), is one of the most widely used herbs for relieving an upset stomach, ulcers, menstrual cramps and is known for having anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial effects. A boutique soap and cosmetic maker charges upwards of $40 per bottle of skin toner made from calendula extract. You can make this at home. Calendula OfficinalisThe most helpful use of calendula is as a tincture made from leaves or flowers, used as soak for poultices to help heal wounds. It is a great, natural antibacterial agent.
    ....................
    5) Nepeta Cataria (Catnip), Nepeta Catariahas a long history of being used as a digestive aid. It’s a natural sedative that also helps to ease digestion, colic and diarrhea. Dehydration caused by diarrhea, and high body temperatures caused by fevers can be life-threatening. A tea brewed from its leaves may help alleviate these symptoms. Catmint is also a mild sedative that naturally helps calm the nerves during stressful situations.
    ..............

    6) Capsicum Annuum (Red Pepper),
    Capsicum Annuum
is a powerful pain reliever when applied topically, and is used to treat osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis and shingles. Use this pepper to help with everything from seasickness to a fever. It is easy to grow, and versatile in use, which means it should be a staple of your survival medicine cabinet.

    FOR YEAST INFECTIONS:
    ..................................................
Medicinal Herbs to Grow at Home
From echinacea to lemon balm, growing medicinal herbs in your home garden can provide convenient access to many natural remedies.

To make echinacea tea, use 2 to 4 teaspoons of fresh echinacea flowers per cup of water. Enjoy!

Even urban dwellers with little more than a balcony, tiny backyard or windowsill can grow their own food. In the following excerpt, learn how to add six medicinal herbs to your garden for easy access to natural remedies for everything from headaches to sore throats.

     Echinacea

    (Echinacea purpurea)
This native perennial, also known as the purple coneflower, is a glorious garden plant that grows 24 to 36 inches tall, and sometimes even taller. It has a long blooming period, starting in the summertime. Echinacea grows large purple flowers that look similar to daisies. This drought-tolerant herb is a must in a summertime bouquet. Echinacea flowers attract wildlife like bees, butterflies, and other essential garden pollinators.
Echinacea boosts the immune system to prevent the common cold or flu. Make it into a tea, as described below.

    Making Echinacea Tea

To make echinacea tea, use 1 to 2 teaspoons of dried or 2 to 4 teaspoons of fresh echinacea flowers, leaves, stems, or roots per cup of water. Allow whatever part of the plant you’re using to steep in a teapot in boiling water for 15 to 20 minutes. Then strain the echinacea and pour the tea into a cup. You can sweeten the tea, if you like, with honey, fresh stevia leaves or raw agave nectar.

    Feverfew

    (Tanacetum parthenium)
This perennial medicinal herb is part of the chrysanthemum family. It’s easy to grow, and once it blooms in spring, it doesn’t stop. You can use the versatile leaves and flowers of this prolific plant to make a healing tea or a fragrant summertime bouquet. Feverfew has been used in Chinese medicine for millennia to reduce fevers and help with headaches and digestive ailments. A bushy, popular herb, feverfew was used as a filler plant in cottage-style Victorian flower beds and gardens.
Feverfew can be at your service at any time throughout the growing season. Simply prune off enough flowers and leaves to make tea for immediate consumption, or harvest more to dry and use later in the winter. During the growing season you can chew on a few leaves to relieve a headache, or steep 4 tablespoons of fresh feverfew (leaves, stem, and flower) per cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Then strain and drink the tea.
You can also dry the entire plant and use it to make tea. Steep 2 tablespoons of dried feverfew per cup of boiling water for 10 minutes. Strain and drink the tea.
Feverfew helps relieve migraines as well as fevers, minor pain and inflammation.

     Lemon Balm

    (Melissa officinalis)
Of the many herbs in the mint family, one of my favorites is lemon balm because it is fragrant, easy to grow, and makes a delicious hot or iced tea with a lemony twist by itself or mixed with mint and other herbs. You can also add cool lemon balm tea to ice-cold lemonade for a particularly refreshing drink.
Medicinally, lemon balm helps with insomnia or an upset stomach; it promotes longevity and reduces anxiety, and if you crush a few fresh leaves and apply them to your skin, it is effective as a mosquito repellent. It also has antiviral and antibacterial properties and is great for an all-natural lip balm; oil made from lemon balm is popular in aromatherapy. Commercially, lemon balm is used in toothpaste. It’s a great perennial to grow in containers and has many culinary uses, especially as a seasoning for meats and fish. It’s also delicious in ice cream and fruit salads.
Lemon balm is one of my first go-to herbs when it starts growing every spring. You’ll have plenty of lemon balm in no time. Small flowers grow throughout the stem, rather than at the top; trim them often and you’ll still get plenty of flowers and seeds to save for later use.
Lemon balm is great for soothing upset stomachs and as a mosquito repellent. Helps relieve minor cuts, burns, and mosquito bites. Make it into a tea or poultice.

     Hyssop Blue

    (Hyssopus officinalis)
This perennial medicinal herb is a big help during flu season. The plants yield beautiful blue, small, edible flower spikes that grow to about 2 feet tall. I love the way they look in the garden. The medicinal properties of hyssop blue, when it’s used as a tea, include relief of indigestion and lung congestion. When it is used externally, hyssop blue is thought to speed up the healing of skin ailments because of its antibacterial properties. A member of the mint family, hyssop blue makes a relaxing tea, combined with lemon balm, to help ease a cough or cold. Even though it is a perennial plant, you’ll need to re-seed every few years for a continuous harvest. Hyssop blue seeds can take up to 30 days to germinate from seed, so it’s a good idea to use transplants from a local nursery or garden center.
Hyssop blue helps with digestion and lung congestion associated with a cold or cough and helps to heal skin. Make it into a tea or poultice.

    Yarrow

    (Achillea millefolium)
This medicinal perennial herb is easy to grow and comes in many different varieties. It is a drought-tolerant native of North America, and its flowers come in an amazing array of hues. Yarrow is a fragrant addition to summertime bouquets and dried-flower arrangements. It is easy to start in your own garden, from either seed or transplants, and it will thrive if you frequently cut off clusters of 10 to 20 tiny flowers.
Native Americans used yarrow to help with headaches, reduce fevers, and get to sleep. It is most commonly available with yellow or white flowers; its foliage can vary from lime-green to silvery gray, fernlike leaves.
Yarrow helps reduce fevers, headache, and menstrual symptoms, and can be used as an astringent and sleep aid. Make it into a tea or poultice.

    Lavender Bergamot

    (Monarda fistulosa)
This prolific medicinal herb is a fragrant perennial used for aromatherapy; its citrus scent is said to soothe the soul. A member of the mint family, lavender bergamot can be used in refreshing summertime drinks, sprinkled in salads, and used medicinally in teas to relieve a sore throat.
The lovely lavender leaves can be used fresh or dried in teas to ease a winter cold, and the flowers make a beautiful addition to bouquets and other floral arrangements.
Lavender bergamot is at its strongest and tastiest—and it is best to use it—before the herb flowers. And it will flower, as it should be allowed to do, all summer long.
Lavender bergamot helps to soothe a sore throat. Make it into a tea.
