Think Again About Stevia

I really have used, a lot of stevia, in all forms. I stopped when I noticed my major lung problem stopped when I didn't have my daily diet drink that Coke came out with. So then I began to look up the side effect. I noticed I needed more calcium, had heart problems and made my asthma worse with attacks at night. I stopper and I'm getting so much better. If you have some of the cautions in this post stop till symptoms are gone. Take more and see if it returns. I won't do that I had sever renal failure.
Leaves of the stevia plant used to make a sugar substitute.

RE: Credit: Stevia plant and powder via Shutterstock (Remember in a bleached powder form it is a chemical, not a natural product anymore.)
Stevia is perhaps unique among food ingredients because it's most valued for what it doesn't do. It doesn't add calories. Unlike other sugar substitutes, stevia is derived from a plant.
The stevia plant is part of the Asteraceae family, related to the daisy and ragweed. Several stevia species called "candyleaf" are native to New Mexico, Arizona and Texas.
But the prized species, Stevia rebaudiana (Bertoni), grows in Paraguay and Brazil, where people have used leaves from the stevia bush to sweeten food for hundreds of years. In traditional medicine in these regions, stevia also served as a treatment for burns, colic, stomach problems and sometimes as a contraceptive.

Today, stevia is part of the sugar substitute market.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture estimates Americans added more sugar to their diet every year since the 1970s until 2000. When Americans dropped the added sugar, they turned to sugar like extracts. The sugar substitute market was estimated to be worth $10.5 billion in 2012, according an analysis by Markets and Markets research firm.
And the market may be growing. Just 18 percent of U.S. adults used low- or no-calorie sweeteners in 2000. Now, 24 percent of adults and 12 percent of children use the sugar substitutes, according to a 2012 review in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition. [9 Snack Foods: Healthy or Not?]
Does stevia work?
Stevia has no calories, but it is 200 times sweeter than sugar in the same concentration. Other studies suggest stevia might have extra health benefits.
"Available research is promising for the use of stevia in hypertension," said Catherine Ulbricht, senior pharmacist at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston and co-founder of Natural Standard Research Collaboration, which reviews evidence on herbs and supplements. Ulbricht said Natural Standard gave stevia a "grade B for efficacy" in lowering blood pressure. Other studies suggest stevia could benefit people with Type 2 diabetes, but Ulbricht says more research is needed.
A no-calorie source of sweetness is an obvious diet solution in theory. But a few studies show that replacing sugar with artificial or low-calorie sweeteners may not ultimately lead to weight loss in real life.
A 2004 study in rats found low-calorie sweeteners led the animals to overeat, possibly because of a mismatch between the perceived sweetness and the expected calories from sugar, according to the paper in the International Journal of Obesity and Related Metabolic Disorders.

The author of that study later argued that people who use artificial sweeteners may suffer health problems associated with excess sugar, including metabolic syndrome, which can be a precursor to diabetes.
"A number of studies suggest people who regularly consume ASB [artificially sweetened beverages] are at increased risk compared with those that do not consume ASB," Dr. Susan E. Swithers said in a 2013 opinion letter in the journal Trends in Endocrinology and Metabolism.
Yet there is also evidence that stevia does nothing to change eating habits or hurt metabolism in the short term. A 2010 study in the journal Appetite tested several artificial sweeteners against sugar and each other in 19 lean people and 12 obese people.
The study found people did not overeat after consuming a meal made with stevia instead of sugar. Their blood sugar was lower after a meal made with stevia than after eating a meal with sugar, and eating food with stevia resulted in lower insulin levels than eating either sucrose and aspartame.
The question of whether stevia is safe to consume largely depends on what someone means by "stevia." The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has not approved stevia leaves or "crude stevia extracts" for use as food additives. Studies on stevia in those forms raise concerns about the control of blood sugar and effects on the reproductive, cardiovascular, and renal systems, the FDA warns.
However, the FDA has allowed companies to use an isolated chemical from stevia as food additive, calling the chemical "generally recognized as safe." Now, products such as Truvia and others have the legal go-ahead to use Rebaudioside A, which is also found in stevia, in their no-calorie sweeteners. (now white, bleach and is a chemical- never use bTruvia )
But there are some health concerns surrounding the stevia plant. Stevia may cause low blood pressure, which would be of concern to some taking blood pressure medications.
"Caution is advised when using medications that may also lower blood sugar. People taking insulin or drugs for diabetes by mouth should be monitored closely by a qualified health care professional, including a pharmacist," Ulbricht said.
Stevia may also interact with anti-fungals, anti-inflammatories, anti-microbials, anti-cancer drugs, anti-virals, appetite suppressants, calcium channel blockers, cholesterol-lowering drugs, drugs that increase urination, fertility agents and other medications, Ulbricht said. People should talk with their doctor before deciding to take stevia in large amounts, she said.

NEED A HEALTHY GIFT FOR HOLIDAY'S ?

We love a unique gift for a birthday, the holidays that is healthy and, reasonable price, especially for that fussy friend or relative.
For Christmas my daughter gave me a new tea that I'm going to suggest for all who have arthritic conditions of any kind including gout.
The brand TEECCINO is 75% Organic. As we read the ads on the package is say herbal coffee (Medium Roast) but that's almonds, dates and figs. There is no coffee in the product which is too acid for arthritic conditions and will set off pain, as aspartame also will do. Listed ingredients: Organic carob, Organic barley, Organic chicory, dates, almonds, Organic dates and figs, vanilla extract. http://www.teecino.com/

Again let me remind you I'm not paid for this products indorsements i.e. I'm suggesting this for education in the arthritic-gout ailments.

(CHICORY is used for fiber, and cleanses the liver, organicall grown barley is the same too)
The bottom line here is if you have these conditions say away from any acid beverages...try, alkaline products like this one. It's used for the live also.

Note: a natural "date" sugar for its sweetener
The other reason I put this here is because Chocolate can make arthritis worse... Check out the pain after drinking any chocolate beverage. Many don't know carob is an alternative to Chocolate. If you google it the ads there say it's a "caffeine free coffees which is their forte."

I was trying to find one for myself, but never did. From what I saw it's too expensive for myself. Some of their products was 14.95 etc. Sarah said she got her's from Fred Myers for only $5.00, however their's no Fred Myers here. I'll post; "where ever" I find it for that price.

I'll call my daughter to find out where she got hers, problem from a health food store. She sent it to me in a mug that had my grand-daughter's photo printed on it fill with "Young Living's" new "THEIVES" cough drops, and some chocolate kisses in the cup.. .She makes nice presentations. Oh, and of course two tea bags of "Vanilla Nut." So the end results is; I'm a happy camper today at Christmas thinking of my family.

(On sale for $2.98 plus shipping...still holding out for a HEALTH FOOD STORE PRICE. good luck!

"WHEN A STUDENT IS READY A TEACHER WILL APPEAR"....
 WARNING:
For others coffee's they are better than all soda pop which are a lot more acids, full of chemicals, plus the aspartame and and fake sugars. Pops are the worse thing that man has invented, not natural bean of coffee. Soda of any kind may not only have corn syrups and fructose are strictly a bottle of chemical that will eat your stomach and nutrients right out of your body. It's the biggest drink that has caused diabetes. (We, now, know enough about aspartame to have them taken off the market than to give to children or/and have a warning label on anything that has them in their product.) Both of these sugars make you fat and increase hunger.

Americans get more antioxidants from coffee than anything else.
According to a study done in 2005, "nothing else comes close" to providing as many antioxidants as coffee. While fruits and vegetables also have tons of antioxidants, the human body seems to absorb the most from coffee

BIG STORM'S ARE BREWING

URIC ACID IS CAUSED BY ALL SUGARS

CBS -RE: 60 Minutes had a 20 min. YouTube on the toxin's of any sugar showing this much better. They found out the excessive fructose consumption leads to insulin resistance, which appears to be the root of many if not most chronic diseases. Fructose also raises your uric acid levels—it typically generates uric acid within minutes of ingestion—which in turn can wreak havoc on your blood pressure, insulin production, and kidney function. So far, scientific studies have linked fructose to about 78 different diseases and health problems
The link between fructose and uric acid is so strong that you can actually use your uric acid levels as a marker for fructose toxicity. According to the latest research in this area, the safest range of uric acid appears to be between 3 and 5.5 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dl), and there appears to be a steady relationship between uric acid levels and blood pressure and cardiovascular risk, even down to the range of 3 to 4 mg/dl. (pH bal. is a must for no pain, yes and sugars will upset the body's balance too)
Back in the year 2000 Bill Misner, Ph.D. in an article that was aptly named Killer Sugar—Suicide With a Spoon. Then, about two years ago, Dr. Robert Lustig's lectures, "sugar is a toxin"; at least in the high amounts most Americans are getting it in. Dr. Richard Johnson also convinced us that fructose is the worst of the two
Crystalline fructose (a super-potent form of fructose the food and beverage industry is now using) may contain arsenic, lead, chloride and heavy metals.
Nearly all corn syrup is made from genetically engineered corn,
Dr. Richard Johnson suggests that the ideal uric acid level is probably around 4 mg/dl for men and 3.5 mg/dl for women. For most have your uric acid level checked to find out how sensitive you are to fructose. However, if you have pain, arthritis, gout, neuropathy, diabetes...no need to have a test you'll know by these decease's and of course many more.
Giving pop to children that's main ingredient is sugar? HELLO1

http://www.wholefoodsmagazine.com/grocery/features/sweet-sales-your-sweetener-aisle new fruit sweetner on shelves.

http://www.naturalnews.com/039244_milk_aspartame_FDA_petition.html Yep...the "devil advocates" are going to add aspartame secretly to your milk. That's all the ADD kids need. They are bound and determined not to take a loss on this so-called sugar. Sell or sneak it in anything, somehow, somewhere rather than to loose money and getting rid of this rat poison product altogether. They've ban cigarette's in in America for our youth, so they knowingly, take the same poison to other countries to kill their kids cancers. The same is true with the aspartame using their manipulation marketing tactics toward our youth when it should be banned. Next: do you actually think they'll label it?

Xylitol AND SUGARS

Do Artificial Sweeteners Cause diseases by feeding parasites, toxins and, pain? The following is Suzanne Somers posting synopsis and my reference link for your education to the rest of post; Sumers advertises her sugar too which I don't know much about... I have most of the same within my posts on the subject thought out "Earth's Organic News" my blog however, I've noted the posts are not visited. Yet, sugar is a key to health. So I'm hesitating adding another post. http://natureheals.hubpages.com/hub/natural-sweeteners

I recently added a new sugar a (clinically proven dental) to my life. It kills bacteria and/or parasites not feeding them as sugar does. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that's is present in small amounts in various fruits and veggies. They say that considerable amounts of Xylitol are formed in the body every day as a result of normal metabolic processes.
It seems to be an extraction from Birch Bark (EXCELLENT PLANT source). It's slowly absorbed from the digestive tract and doesn't cause rapid rise in blood glucose. Lots of gums and candies are made from it due to its unique dental benefits. Xylitol is a sugar alcohol that cannot be utilized by bacteria in the mouth and of course else where in the body. Recent research in laboratory animals show that this sugar may support healthy bones (...the other rob minerals from the body.) Unfortunately cheaper versions are being deriving from GMO corn that changes its DNA genetic structure. It use to be in grocery store, now only on the Internet and health food stores. This product is better than Stevia for diabetic. However the NOW brand has a product called XYLITOL PLUS, from corn in packets for convenience.
The other sugars are below.
The main Fakes:
• Saccharin (SweetN' Low, Sugar Twin).
• Aspartame (NutraSweet, Equal). Approximately 200 times sweeter than sugar, with articles linking it to brain tumors, multiple sclerosis, and lupus.Dr. Blaylock, says, "The ingredients stimulate the neurons of the brain to death, causing brain damage of varying degrees." Soda's in the USA is going down and up in other countries.
• Sucralose (Splenda) This sucralose is made by taking a sugar molecule and adding ch lorine to it. Splenda was originally made as a pesticide
.....................
MORE NATURAL;
• Stevia. A natural sweetener extracted from a South American plant that's approximately 300 times sweeter than table sugar.
*Another one of these kind of sugars with itself comes from an seed: Coconut sugar. Madhava is a brand name and a natural sweener. 1 cup is the same as 1 cup of reg. sugar, but expensive. www.madhavasweeteners.com
• Raw Agave syrup;low-glycemic liquid sweetener, A 100-percent natural product, sweeter than honey, and similar to high fructose corn syrup.
*Date sugar, Organic raw i.e
*Sugar white or Raw
* Raw organic not water added honey
*Molasses (raw dark)
*Chicory fiber
*Licorice root Herb

These sugars are mention throughout my writings...I found it a better way to deliver the message without preaching a dry destination on don't eat the sugars if you want a cure....

XYLITOL SUGAR GOOD FOR US?

"Dr. Wright discovered that there are "bad" and "good" sugars, and the difference can transform your health in days - or even minutes.
"BAD" sugars attract dangerous germs...
You see, sugar isn't just sweet for us - germs love it too. The sugar in your body sends out chemical signals that draw them like moths to a flame. what you turn on is that secret code against or for your microbial enemies? Incredibly, now you can see with a germ killer if in GOOD" sugars will disable germs
These "exotic" varieties are not found in table sugar, but they do show up in small quantities in certain fruits, like cranberries. Their molecules are just a little different, but it makes a huge difference to germs.(...parasites)
Because they can't hang on, your body fluids then wash these germs away harmlessly. Too good to be true? WRONG. Dr. Wright has found sugars that do exactly this.
Take "Sugar X", for example. Also known as xylitol, (found in gum) it looks and tastes a lot like ordinary table sugar, but actually disables bacteria... (...sold in Health Food Stores) another is E erythritol.
.....................................................
Another one of these kind of sugars with itself comes from an seed: Coconut sugar. Madhava is a brand name and a natural sweener. 1 cup is the same as 1 cup of reg. sugar, but expensive. www.madhavasweeteners.com

VIDEO: VERY SHORT WORTH THE VIEW: http://www.getrealmaple.com/the-trouble-with-table-syrup/deceptive-packaging.php Is it real maple syrup? How to tell? Some manufacter are doing the same to honey, it's not all honey, buyer beware.

* http://salsa3.salsalabs.com/o/1881/p/dia/action/public/?action_KEY=6846 Food safety Dr. Wright's colleagues honored him with "The Linus Pauling Award," they gave special praise to his cutting-edge health advisory, "Nutrition and Healing." He's done a lot of work on Mustard i.e...his patients to devour these types of veggies with gusto. They're commonly called the "mustard family" - mustard, broccoli, cauliflower, bok choy, cabbage and brussels sprouts all belong to this club.
They contain lots of good stuff, but their best secret is THE MIRACLE MOLECULE I3C also, used for diabetes and other ailments. He's an advocate of Green Tea etc. not the pill form of fat blockers...see post for more details.
