EAT THE WEEDS (Teas)

This is about Stinging Nettle (urtica) a excellent herb in the wild. Get to know wild herbs. I love herb walks and this is where I learn about this plant. Do not gather near traffic, lead gets into the plant from fumes of the exhaust of car, truck etc. This makes an excellent tea, lots of nutrition's and has many medical properties too. Many others and fruit trees, not sprayed, make into excellent teas. (..."fruit thereof for medicines...the " GMO was non existent in history.

Lavender Scones with Lavender Honey Cream - Recipes

Lavender Scones
Scones and Lavender, what could be more quintessentially British! This recipe makes an incredibly light dough, mainly due to the sour cream. They are simply luxury on a plate especially with a Lavender Honey Cream filling.
1 1/2 cups plain flour
1/2 tsp Baking powder
1/2 tsp Salt
1/4 cup Sugar
1 cup Sour Cream
1 tsp Dried Lavender flowers

Preheat the oven to 225 degrees

In a bowl, mix the dry ingredients together.

Then simply add the sour cream and stir with a large spoon until the dry ingredients are holding together (if the mixture is a little crumbly add a very small splash of water.

Turn the scone dough out onto a floured surface and knead gently, this won’t take long and you don’t want to break the dough down to much so knead for about 1- 15 seconds (you’ll feel its enough!).

You want to make a large flat rectangle about 3 or 4 centimetres thick. Now select the amount of scones you want to make, you could probably make 6 out of this mix or 4 big ones (depends on how greedy your feeling!).
Using a butter or palette knife cut the scones out and place them on a greased non stick tray.
Bake for 15 minutes or until golden brown.
.....................................................
Honey Lavender Cream
Meanwhile you are going to need a filling, and this cream is going to do it!!
142ml (half a standard pot of double cream)
1 tsp Dried lavender (pulsed or chopped)
4 tsp Honey
Mix together, whip into soft peaks and its done!
Once the scones have cooled to just warm, gently slice and add lashings of the perfumed cream..
Serve immediately and try not to eat all of them at once!

Iced Rose Tea, Lime Blossom Tea, Lavender Hot Chocolate - Recipes

What could be more luxurious than making delicious drinks from flowers. Not just healthy drinks, but simply divine drinks! Why not spoil yourself, forage some flowers and create one of these fantastic hot or cold beverages!

Lime Blossom Tea

Lime blossom, also commonly known as linden, is an ideal herb whenever a relaxing effect is needed. With its sweet, clean aroma, lime blossom tea is a soothing remedy for a hard day, a difficult week, or a troubling year.

How to Make Lime Blossom Tea

To make lime blossom tea, pour one cup of boiling water over one teaspoon of the dried flowers. For a strong enough diaphoretic effect for fevers, use two teaspoons. Let the tea steep for about ten minutes, covered. Drink lime blossom tea three times a day while treating nervous tension, hypertension, or a cold or flu, or as a relaxing night cap enjoy a cup at the end of the day.

Iced Rose Tea

Like the rose hips, the petals of the rose flowers also have numerous medical uses. They are presumed to be both healing and calming and can cleanse the pallet as well invigorating the nervous system.

How to make Iced Rose Tea

Press dried rose petals and a few fresh into a tea pot and cover securely. Pour boiling water into a pot and let brew to the desired strength.

Strain the tea into a tall jug and refrigerate for an hour or so. When ready to drink simply serve in a tall glass with ice and a few fresh rose petals.

Lavender Hot Chocolate

Lavender like the two flowers above is also known for its health benefits. Its aroma is believed to benefit anxiety and insomnia. Its oil is used as an antiseptic agent and it is also used as a relaxant, carminative, and sedative in aromatherapy. This recipe is a little naughty, but hey surely the health benefits out way the naughtier bits??

How to make Lavender Hot Chocolate

• 3 cups of Full Fat Milk
• 2 teaspoons lavender (good English Lavender)
• 1 Bar Dark Chocolate (70% Cacao)
• A little cream (whipped lightly – Lavender honey cream if you have it)

In a saucepan, bring the milk to a simmer over medium heat (don’t let it catch on the bottom of the pan!). Turn off the heat, cover the pan, add the lavender, and steep in the hot milk for 3 to 5 minutes, keep checking the flavor for your desired strength. Strain the milk through a tea strainer. Now, here’s an even more fun bit.. Take the still wrapped chocolate bar and smash it on the worktop, taking turns at both ends, undo one end of the wrapper and pour the smashed chocolate into the warm milk. Over a low heat whisk the milk vigorously until the chocolate is melted and the mixture froths (if you lie a sweeter mix add a little sugar now). Pour equal amounts into 4 small mugs or as I like it 2 huge mugs! Top each with the whipped cream, and why not sprinkle some chopped pistachios and a few more flowers over the top too!

The last one was a little less healthy than the first two but hey… Live a little and enjoy these little gifts from nature!

Cold, Flu-Remedys, Malaria

Herbal Remedy –Old Cold Treatment To Treat the flue “holistically” beginning with the stomach, colon, then to the inter parts kidney and liver. Its the way herbalist should work with their herbs, (plant or food) and other natural means that aids the body in its process of elimination of toxin’s (flue) or dis
Lemonade is for the liver and keeping a normal pH level. Use every morning or pinch of baking soda in bottled water.

Most fall under their sources such as : Stomach, Colon, Kidney and Liver. The depth of this will not be approached here on this page.

Lemon shines for morning sickness every

Cold Treatment: At the onset of a cold, add 1/2 teaspoon each of cinnamon and ginger to 1 cup of scalded milk. Add 1 teaspoon of honey and drink while hot. It’s very soothing and stimulating. (or. mom's was just hot water, sugar sip when warm, many times a day, especially in morning and evenings)

Royal Mix for Severe Colds: Mix 1- cup each of dried White Yarrow, Spearmint, Sage, Catnip, Horehound, Verbena and Pennyroyal. Pour 1 pint of boiling water over 2-1/2 tablespoons of the herb mix. Cover and let stand 10 minutes. Strain and sweeten. Reheat and drink 1 cup every couple hours. Use more often if sweating is desired. Cinnamon Tea: This is really good to take during a cold, as it will cause you to sweat. Cinnamon is a strong stimulant and this really works. Simmer 6 sticks of cinnamon in 1 pint of water for 30 minutes. Strain and add milk and honey after removing the cinnamon sticks. Taste delicious and kids love it. (Substitute another anti-fungal herb for the one not available that grown in your area.

Remember to treat the whole body in your Colds. (Treat all four, stomach, colon, kidneys and liver.)
Colon: Enema or laxative (as simple as 3 prunes) The need of keeping the colon clean especially when sick to move it all out Note this is most important to begin cleansing, clearing sweeping the debris out of the body.
Kidneys: Lots of room temperature liquids (boil water if necessary to have fungal free water.) This helps to cleanse the blood and dilute the poisons. Liver: See “liver” page for a list of all the liver herbs and choose one. (Take the suggested “blood purifying herbs” like Milk Thistle, i.e. that correlates with your on-going heath problems). You really can kill two birds with one stone here. Most of these herbs are anti fungal of course or see parasite page.
Approximately 1,000 mg of Vitamin C each hour with a full glass of pure water. Vitamin C is an anti fungal. Or/and fresh lemon aid warm or cold is a natural anti fungal too.
Stomach: No food especially if in pain.

Listen to your body. If blood sugars a problems, or very weak use milder foods.
No meats, cheeses that have too much concentrated proteins. All these will plug up any eliminating efforts to more flue like symptoms. Also, eating proteins will make the flue last longer. You’ll want to work with nature not fight her.

(Use some fresh fruits or juices, but be careful here…too much will make you sicker fast because you’ll eliminate too fast. If in pain…watch the animals and do what they intuitively know to do, don’t eat.

Vegetable (Plants) slow downs your process of elimination. Let me repeat:
Protein halts elimination to a screeching halt, Fruit speeds up the process and Vegetables slows down the process of eliminating. Fasting Eliminates and acts as nature surgeon. You choose where you are and what you can do depending on many factors.

Its duration and how complicated the illness will depend on your choices. You’ve gotten here because the body is full of toxins and it need to clean house (flue) to save your life and not add a build of toxins in a form of disease depending on where it lodges in the body. This elimination is actually a blessing. The flue process chips of longer diseases. Don’t stop it but work with it. Too many take a pill to stop it then this flue process then sickness will build up in the body by not eliminating poisons out of the body. Then you’ll have a bigger problem down the road. Where it lands and stays will be the name of your disease.

Vegetables such as beets will cleanse the liver and one of the many applicable foods to choose from. All citrus fruit or grapes for the stomach i.e.

Tonic teas: So many to choose from, Comfrey (lungs), Red Clover Blossom (blood), Alfalfa Mint (glands), and Horsetail i.e. get a good herbal dictionary of herbs in your area.

Chest Cold: Lung herbs such as Mullein, Comfrey (aids the liver also), Ma Haung or Ephedra, i.e. add with a bit of lobelia (removes poisons), cayenne or ginger if a stomach problems. Don't forget the lemons:
http://www.doctoroz.com/slideshow/11-amazing-uses-lemons?gallery=true&page=6

Others: Vick's is good because of the Eucalyptus. Buy products that use this great herb for flues, like in cough drops with added honey. Ma Huang is great…growing your own with organic seeds found on the Internet.

Cough Medicine, (molasses for anemia)
1-cup molasses (health food stores) or honey
4 Tbs. butter
1/2 tsp. ginger root (fresh)Boil 30 minutes on a low heat, cover for 5 minutes, last minute add in some lemons to cut mucus.Very optional: Store in brown bottles. You can add cinnamon sticks or clove oil that kill germs. Thyme or Oregano may not taste as well but serves as an anti fungal, but the children may object to its taste. (Lemons) An option: Is to add more iron, by adding a small fresh bruised yellow or burdock seeds or its root is the strongest. This will clean the liver and add more iron. Good in cases of leukemia. Molasses and ‘Dock family of herbs and Alfalfa are great iron herbs.

Recipe for Basic Cough syrup: 6 oz. honey 2 oz. glycerin (if no glycerin use Bragg's unfiltered apple cider vinegar) 2 organic juiced lemons and some zest of lemon or organic orange Mix well - bottle in dark bottles bought at health food store or corked dark bottles (If cough is very persistent you can add 1 tbs of whiskey in a dose.)

(*Available at Mountain Rose Herbs (Internet)

Cough Syrup: For anti biotic effects in the recipe, add chopped garlic or onion for natural sulfur. Macerate garlic or onion for 3 days in vinegar and strain through calendar then strain again though paper towels. Add the honey and glycerin after this process not before. Then add 3 droppers full of tincture of Lobelia (rids obstructions and fevers). If the flavor of garlic or onion is objectionable, use cinnamon or clove oil. Sometimes in stores for flavoring candy suckers, or go to the health food stores. Drops only…it’s very strong! Or…stick a cinnamon stick when storing in dark bottles. The reader now has the idea of how to add to this basic cough formula.

My grandmothers recipe was just to boil the water add in lemons, peels for the oil (tea and remove), and juice, steep, then add a sweetener. Sip very slowly. It’s so good and comforting.

Asthma in Crisis use Ma Huang or, use Comfrey tea use everyday, usually about 3 days. (cough part use, Tb of whiskey and sugar (abt once will do it) 24 hr.  Actifed, not over the counter kind.

Croup: Same as above for bowels, Lemon and honey (straight) 1 spoonful at a time every 15 minutes. Cold wash clothe or ice pack about the neck with dry towel on top. Keep neck cold until swelling goes down. Sometimes pop cycles help this too. Golden seal and Myrrh or hydrogen peroxide, Listerine i.e.

Earache; Ice bag on ear, blow air on ear with hair dryer, feet in hot mustard or cayenne water, laxative or enema, (Laxative teas draw mucus from the ear), stop eating, only fruit and raw fresh juices if possible, 1000mg vitamin C each hour ascorbic acid. A pinched strong garlic oil bud (empty in ear) I use this for a child that they wanted to put tubes in the ears.

For the Kidney use Horsetail, Juniper, Alfalfa and water melon seeds. Organic
.

Fevers: Enema’s or laxatives as above, do the same as “cold”, sponge baths with cool water when temperatures get high (104 degrees). Enema will usually bring fever right down. Work with a fever remembering it’s the body trying to kill off the accumulations of parasites and chip of some of the diseases. It’s also natures warning that all systems are clogged and need help immediately. So consider the colon, kidney, liver and bowel when treating any acute illness.

Throats-swollen tonsils i.e.: 1. Glycerin and Iodine – swab throat every hour, straight lemon and honey. Keep toothbrushes sanitized and brush tongue.
2. If you can use vinegar and water to gargle with it will helps and kill parasites.
3. Also, rinse mouth with Listerine or hydrogen peroxide, or a sea salt-water rinse.
4. Sanitize your tooth bushes till throat problems are over.
5. Use paper product, so not to pass it on to the family.
6. No kissing i.e. For 14 days use oil of oregano or another anti fungal.

*Throat or Tongue paralysis: Cayenne approximately 1 tsp, Apple cider vinegar 2 tbs., Sage tea ½ pint, Sea salt 2 tbs., raw honey 2 tbs., mix and gargle 4-12 times daily. Most short flue if caught early will be cure by this simple remedy.

Glycerin and Iodine Recipe: "Strip throats" Paint every hour with glycerin and iodine. The recipe is to mix clear bottle of glycerin and iodine until color is deep amber. You can buy vegetable glycerin from * Mountain Rose Herbs and other equipment and herbs. Do the “”semi-fast” which is a mucus less diet when acute. See further instruction with in this page.

Recipe for Mustard Plaster 3 tbs flour
2 tsp lard (shortening)
1 tbs dry mustard1 tbs each spirits of turpentine and glycerine. Spread on a cloth as large as chest.

Nausea; Peppermint tea, Alfalfa mint tea, and Jell-O water.

Where nervousness is the cause use Catnip, Hops, and Red clover blossoms. If in pregnancy use Golden seal, calcium, B-complex with B-6 and Raspberry leaf tea (or Root) or Kava Kava rt.

Malaria: Kill parasite; black walnut hull with lobelia; Grapefruit rinds boiled is natural quinine; Also, Cachono Bark. Allergies: Use 2 tsp. honey and 2 tsp. cider vinegar in 3/4-cup water take before going to bed.  Use liver herbs also. www.mountainroseherbs.com Leave a Comment for your g-mother's favorite cold remedy.
